Experience
If you're over eighteen and you've ever dreamt of
driving a locomotive, working a signal box or acting as guard on a standard gauge railway,
then this is your chance!
Whether as a birthday or anniversary gift, or a personal treat
for yourself, spend a whole day at the Dean Forest Railway soaking up the ambience of a
typical day on a Great Western branch line in the Royal Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.
The day starts at 0915 with coffee, the work schedule, and all-important
safety instructions, rules and regulations, then it's on with a super day of railway
experience consisting of:
Driving and firing a Great Western tank engine or
one of our diesel locomotives -
Guard duties on the Brake van
Inspection of the workshops, museum and rolling stock

- Operating the manual crossing
|
For early risers and late leavers,
preparation and disposal of the loco is also included.
Partners are invited to watch and photograph your special day, and join you
for lunch.
The Price is £275
for the steam experience, or £205 for
diesel
which includes one year's membership of the Dean Forest Railway
