The
Explore Wales Pass (formerly the Freedom of Wales Flexi-Pass) is an initiative designed to promote public transport as a
user- and environmentally-friendly way of exploring Wales, and visiting a selection of the
wide range of attractions it has to offer. It is available for eight days' travel (four days by rail, eight by bus), and can cover the whole of Wales, just Mid and North Wales, or South Wales only. Search WalesRails .......... Message Board |

Using the Explore Wales Pass, visitors have unlimited travel on network rail services
at weekends and Bank Holidays and after
9:15am Monday to Friday. On the Central (Heart of) Wales Line; between Carmarthen
and Pembroke Dock,
Milford Haven and Fishguard Harbour; between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth/Pwllheli;
between Llandudno and Blaenau Ffestiniog; and between Wrexham and Bidston routes, the tickets are valid all day and every day.
There is
unlimited travel on most scheduled bus services; and discounted travel on ten
preserved railways: Bala Lake Railway (Return ticket for
single price) Brecon Mountain Railway (Return ticket for single price) Dean Forest Railway (Two tickets for the price of one) Fairbourne and Barmouth Railway (20% discount) Ffestiniog Railway: Porthmadog-Blaenau Ffestiniog (50%
discount) Gwili Railway (20% discount) Llanberis Lake Railway (20% discount) Talyllyn Railway: Tywyn-Abergynolwyn (20% discount) Welsh Highland Railway (Caernarfon) (50% discount) Welsh Highland Heritage Railway (Porthmadog) (20%
discount) The Explore Wales Pass also gives Two-for-One admission to Cadw Welsh Historic Monument sites;
20% discount admission to National Trust properties; 10% discount at some YHA youth
hostels (one stay only); £1 off adult, student and senior citizen fares on City Sightseeing Guide
Friday open-top tours of Cardiff, and Chester, and 20% off Newport and Llandudno
tours; and up to 20% discount or two-for-one entry to selected
independent attractions.
The Passes tickets are obtainable from staffed stations and appointed travel agents, or from the www.Explore Wales Pass.co.uk website. With your ticket you will receive a free travel pack, which includes maps, guides, and full details of attractions included and the discount vouchers for them.
